On Thursday, January 19th, 2012, the internet group, Anonymous brought down two major websites. fbi.gov and doj.gov. The attack was prompted by the shutdown of MegaUpload.

The Sopa/pipa bills are the cause of outrage all over the internet.

The are many diverse communities on the web, and just like any large country, the smaller groups can have disputes and struggles.

But for the first time, the internet came together. Metal fans and rap fans, gangsters and scene kids, furries and humans, hetalians and homestucks; all standing together in an effort to save the internet.

Now when I heard about those websites going down, and the month of march; blackout month; I realized that this wasn’t some little thing.

This is war. Full-scale digital war.

And if the goverment doesn’t realize what’s happening

it may turn into ACTUAL WAR.

This will be monumental.

And I will be able to tell my grandchildren the story of the war that saved free speech and the internet in 2012.

I can tell them how people so different, and so opposed to each other, came together to save something they loved.

Something that can be used for evil, but also for extreme good.

The goverment should be afraid of us.

And in the words of one of my heroes, Martin Luther King Jr, however, it’s now the whole nation that can be spoken for;

I am happy to join with you today in what will go down in history as the greatest demonstration for freedom in the history of our nation.

It would be fatal for the nation to overlook the urgency of the moment. This winter of the peoples legitimate discontent will not pass until there is an invigorating spring of freedom and equality. 2012 is not an end, but a beginning. Those who hope that the peoples needed to blow off steam and will now be content will have a rude awakening if the nation returns to business as usual. There will be neither rest nor tranquility in America until the people are granted TRUE free speech and JUSTICE. The whirlwinds of revolt will continue to shake the foundations of our nation until the bright day of justice emerges.

But there is something that I must say to my people who stand on the warm threshold which leads into the palace of justice. In the process of gaining our rightful place we must not be guilty of wrongful deeds. Let us not seek to satisfy our thirst for freedom by drinking from the cup of bitterness and hatred.

I say to you today, my friends, so even though we face the difficulties of today and tomorrow, I still have a dream. It is a dream deeply rooted in the American dream.

I want free speech to continue to exist. I want this country to continue to exist for what it was meant to be.

A land of free will

free speech

and justice.

My friends, justice is something that is hard to come by.

And I may not believe in god

but i dont believe in my government.

And I should.

So with every bit of myself, I ask that all of you, white black american asian hispanic jewish atheist christian gay straight bisexual pansexual asexual male female transgender all of you

come together

and let JUSTICE ring.

Let it resound.

And when this happens, when we allow justice to ring, when we let it ring from every village and every hamlet, from every state and every city, we will be able to speed up that day when all of God’s children, black men and white men, Jews and Gentiles, Protestants and Catholics, will be able to join hands and sing in the words of the old Negro spiritual, “Free at last! free at last! thank God Almighty, we are free at last!”

Though I do think Anonymous has taken it a bit too far. I stand behind them. The only way to get the attention of the government is to take it too far. We tried it the peaceful way. The blackout wasn’t enough? Was the thousands and thousands of people who signed the peition and pulled their support against these bills not enough to get through their thick skulls?

Apparently it was not. With the rescent events that have been unfolding we as the internet need to pull together. So what if you hate eachother or have some sort of rivalry, we need to pull together as a whole and put a stop to this.

It seems the only way we will be able to get through to them is if we fight. And if the government still doesn’t realize that they are starting a war, they are more ignorant than I last thought.

We will rise up. We will protest. We will keep fighting untill these bills are gone. We do not forgive, we do not forget.

Why should we be the ones who pay for something the music and entertainment industries brought on themselves. Why should we lose OUR RIGHTS because the big name companies gave us the tools and told us to use the tools and we did.

Is there no justice anymore? Does no one have common sense, or shame, or pride? I think not. These multi-millionaire companies prance around because we’re hurting them. We’re causing them to lose money. Last I checked they were worth millions. Last I checked, companies got richer by supporting BitTorrent and Limewire. They made MONEY OF HOSTING THESE TORRENTING PROGRAMS ON THEIR SITES. And yet we are still the ones who pay for they’re wrong doings.

They are trying to clean up their own mess by controlling what we do. They want to force us to do what they want. I was not aware America ran on the companies and not the democracy. This is not the land of the free. This is the land of ‘as long as you are rich you are allowed to do as you please.’

They made more and more money by giving us the tools to do what they said was wrong. And now they want to make even more money by telling us it was wrong.

I for one will not sit around and watch this happen. And I will do whatever I PERSONALLY AM ABLE TO to put a stop to this.

This is war. This bill is on an international level. This is opening up a can of worms. And it will have some major backlash if passed. So if it’s a fight they want, it is a fight they will get.

Playing nice is no longer working. To everyone: Keep fighting, keep protesting, keep going and pushing, because untill it is completely gone, we can not stop. We can not give up. We can not sit on the sidelines and watch innocent people get in trouble for something that THEY caused.

Megaupload was just the start. What is next? Tumblr? Facebook? Google? They say they want to stop piriting because it’s hurting money, but did they stop to think by shutting down sites they’re hurting other people? They’re causing people to lose jobs. I thought they wanted to help people not hurt them.

Ignorance. Pure Ignorance. So please. Let us keep fighting. We will rise up, we will be heard whether they like it or not.
