I’m now a mod for queerautistics! um…I’ve never modded anything before! What do I do? ^^;
You can post stuff, approve submissions, and answer questions.
Submit/ask away! We’re still brand-new, so feel free to leave suggestions!
- I don’t have a name for it yet. I considered queerautistics, but some people might find queer offensive so I’m open to suggestions.
- What are people’s thoughts on allowing allies?
- The rules are going to be obvious - no -isms, no curebie crap, no drama.
- I really want to have a good cross-section of mods. Most LGBTQA groups end up being dominated by white cis binary people, and it would be a shame if it happened here.
Any other suggestions?
There is a sizeable number of people on Tumblr who identify as both autistic and LGBTQQA+. Would anyone else be interested in a Tumblr for autistic LGBTQQA+ people?
I told him to stop using the tag, and he told me that he was an adult and he could do whatever he wanted. -_-
If you don’t want to shave your legs, then I don’t care. However, I shave my legs because I have sensory issues (autism) and I hate how my legs feel when they’re unshaven. I’ve tried going unshaven and felt uncomfortable. So don’t shame people for their body hair choices, because you don’t know why they do it.
Well….
- “What’s wrong with you?!”
- “But retarded is a medical word!”
- “I totally can’t tell you’re autistic!”
- “You’re not depressed, you’re just having a bad day!”
- “Stop that! It’s inappropriate!”
- “Well my cousin’s sister’s brother-in-law’s nephew’s brother is autistic, so I’m an expert!”
- …
“I know what it’s like to be autistic! My second-cousin twice-removed has autism!”
Seriously? Did you.. did.. really?
Please, tell me more about your experiences.
I HATE IT WHEN PEOPLE SAY THIS. It’s so effing presumptuous and offensive and aaaaaaargh I can’t even with those people. >_<
1. Autism Speaks
Autism Speaks is the patronizer of patronizers. They expressly state that their goal is to “cure” autism for the sake of the autistic community which they “speak” for; in reality, Autism Speaks is a bunch of neurotypicals projecting their feelings onto us.
2. Autism Awareness…
If you write something offensive, and we call you out on it, the best idea is to reblog it and apologize, or at the very least, make a new post and apologize and tag that with autism too.
I can’t speak for anyone else, but when someone writes something either offensive or just plain misguided…
Not to mention that deleting it isn’t going to make it all go away. We can screencap it or find another way to archive it. Once you put something on the Internet, it’s next to impossible to completely erase it.
